WWF: Learning from 10 years of FLR in the East Usambara Landscape in Tanzania

WWF share lessons learnt from 10 years of forest landscape restoration (FLR) efforts in the East Usambara Landscape in Tanzania.

WWF and local partner, Tanzania Forest Conservation Group (TFCG), led an FLR project in the landscape from 2004 to 2014.

The report sheds light on the experiences on the ground but also the concrete benefits to both people and nature. For example, forest clearance declined by 88% and incomes of targeted villagers increased by 239% thanks to alternative income generation activities and establishment of village land forest reserves (VLFRs).
