Workshop Indonesia May 2009

The workshop on Forest and Landscape Restoration was conducted in Prana Dewi, Batukaru, Tabanan Bali, Indonesia from 12-16 May 2009. The workshop was the first and marked the kick off of three series of workshops planned to be conducted in three different regions of ITTO member countries.

The objectives of the workshop were to disseminate the concept of Forest and Landscape Restoration, to discuss Forest and Landscape Restoration in a landscape level, to develop a guideline for forest landscape restoration specifically applicable for Indonesia, and selected a number of learning sites for Network of Global Partnerships on Forest and Landscape Restoration.

It was concluded that aforestation, reforestation, reclamation, forest rehabilitation, restoration of mosaic of land uses within a landscape must be discussed and agreed upon all stakeholders in the related landscape.  A draft of Indonesian guidelines for Forest and Landscape Restoration was developed by participant from many case studies that presented by some participants as well as based on the existing guidelines. The version of the Indonesian FLR guidelines in Bahassa Indonesia can be found here.
